Puppy Dog Engagement Photos – Oak Hollow Park – North Huntingdon Photographer

At the beginning of the corona virus, while we were stuck at home, I had a wedding consultation on facetime. It was something totally new to me. I had only done a video call once before with a client, back when skype first came out! I was so nervous. I wasn’t sure how it would go or how well I’d be able to share my work since I am used to sharing full galleries and albums in person! Showing an album over a video call isn’t exactly easy or ideal. Being able to hold it in your hand is one of the best parts, so as you can understand, I was a little worried about how it would go.

I had put both kids to bed and sat down at my desk to prepare my list of questions. As soon our call began, I was instantly put at ease by how laid back Malinda was! I was so excited to talk to her and hear her and David’s love story. She told me all about his proposal at Disney World, the wedding plans they had made so far, and her sweet dog Rooney that was her whole world. (I’ll share more of that story once we have their full engagement session!)

Needless to say, I didn’t even need to convince Malinda to book me as her photographer as she had already made up her mind that I was the one! Easiest consultation ever! So we talked about their engagement photos and she had just one request: Rooney needed to be in the photos too.

If you follow along with me, you know that a lot of my clients bring their dogs along to their sessions! I have no problem with that whatsoever. 🙂 So we planned their engagement session for September, hoping that the pandemic would be over by then and we’d all be back to normal.

Then a month or two later, I was scrolling through facebook and saw that Malinda had posted that Rooney wasn’t doing well and had been diagnosed with several conditions including diabetes. I knew just how important he was to her and having an uncertain future, I offered to give Rooney his own photo session! 🙂 So a few weeks later, I got to meet Malinda, David, and their dog Rooney at Oak Hollow Park for some photos! He was so sweet. I could instantly see the beautiful connection he has with Malinda.

Diabetes in a human can be very hard to manage, but diabetes in a dog is even more difficult because dogs can’t tell you what they are feeling. Rooney has a sensor on his back that Malinda scans with her phone quite frequently to make sure his blood sugar doesn’t go too high or drop too low. It is quite an undertaking to be so aware of it all the time. Malinda is so blessed to have David who loves Rooney so much and will take care of him as well! They are quite the team!

Rooney had a blast running around and being snuggled for his photos. Malinda’s mom even joined us for a few photos as she and Rooney have been very close throughout the years as well.

It was such a pleasure to capture these precious memories for you, Malinda & David! I can’t wait to see you all in the spring for your full engagement session! 🙂 North Huntingdon Photographer
