Karen & Paul are joyfully expecting a baby boy to join their family very soon! Their little girl is going to be the best big sister ever!
It was a pleasure to capture these family maternity photos for them at Round Hill Park & Exhibit Farm. We met early in the morning before the crowds arrived and got to see some of the animals being quite active compared to how they are later in the day. The cows were wandering around, the sheep were chasing each other, and the goats were quite energetic.
The real fun for me though is getting to know my clients while I take their photos! I don’t usually share all the details because quite frankly, no one wants their lives being broadcast on the internet these days. (Neither do I!) But I always end up feeling like we should be best friends by the end of the session! I love all of my clients and getting to know them while we walk around and explore, is the best.
There can be one downside to having your session first thing in the morning, and that is having to wake the kids up early, if they’re not used to that! Poor Evelyn did NOT want to be woken up that morning by her dad. She was quite displeased with the early wake up call and that continued into their session. But finally near the end, she decided to forgive him a little bit and hold his hand to go see some of the animals. Haha.
Really though, kids will do whatever they want and I have learned to just go with it! They pretty much always warm up eventually. Even if it’s just for a few minutes at the end. My goal each session is to get one nice smiling photo with the whole family and the rest are less posed and more fun. We actually got quite a few beautiful smiling portraits during this session, even with the early morning challenge.
Capturing these last days as a family of 3 was so important to Karen and Paul as they anticipate the arrival of their son in July. The days are so precious leading up to their only child becoming a big sister. I’m so glad to have frozen this moment in time for them!
Congratulations Karen, Paul & Evelyn! I can’t wait to meet your little guy soon!
