When I was a kid, we lived high up on a hill in North Huntingdon. Our driveway seemed as if it was a mile long, and I’m pretty certain I only went up and down the whole way a handful of times. At the bottom of our hill lived another family. They had 3 girls and a boy. The oldest two girls, Ashley and Bethany, were around my age and we were best friends. They had a huge swing set that we would go as high as we possibly could and then they would jump off. I have never been a jumper, so I’m pretty certain that I never took that chance.
We did everything together. From playing outside, to taking swim lessons at Norwin High School, to going to our Wednesday night AWANA program at church. My childhood memories with them are some of my favorites. (Though, the one where Ashley pushed me off a slide and I broke my wrist, I’m not as fond of. I can laugh about it now though!)
When we were about 9, they moved away. A year after that, my family moved as well. We never really saw each other again until we were old enough to work and drive. We’d run into each other at Sheetz and Walmart and reminisce about our childhoods, always talking about how we wanted to get together again.
Then Ashley got married and moved even further away. I was married in 2017, and Bethany got married just this past March to a great guy named Chad.
Bethany and Chad were expecting a little girl and are building their forever home in North Huntingdon, a couple miles down the road from where I live! I was so excited to hear from her when she asked if I would do some maternity photos for them. It was so wonderful to see Bethany again after all these years. Pregnancy gave her this amazing glow! She was stunning!
We went to the Rose Garden at Renzie Park in McKeesport for their photo session. I couldn’t believe how many roses were in full bloom already at the beginning of June! The park was glowing as the sun was setting. No one else was around until we were finished. It was a perfect evening! Their little Brynlee June was born just two weeks later! She is gorgeous just like her mama. Enjoy their maternity photos!
