I am so excited to be sharing Kate and Richard’s wedding before their first anniversary! I’m getting closer and closer to catching up my blog, though I still have a lot of Alethea’s photos to finish before I can reach that point!
Kate and Richard were married on a beautiful sunny day, last September. It didn’t rain one drop the entire day. That is a huge feat for western Pennsylvania! They had planned to get ready at their home where we did their engagement photos (you can see those by clicking here) their plans changed when Kate realized her mom wouldn’t be there. Kate’s parents run a farm with animals, and farms don’t stop for weddings. Her mom was so gracious to offer her home for all the girls to get ready in the morning of their wedding. I had been to that house several times in the last few years for Kate’s sister Amber’s, senior photos, and her sister Morgan’s, engagement photos. The Ormsby farmland is beautiful!
When I arrived that morning, Kate’s dad was out in the field tending the sheep. Like I said, farm work doesn’t stop for weddings. I went inside to find Kate and her bridesmaids getting their hair done by Taylor Myers, and makeup done by Katlyn McCurdy and Jordann Rager of Clarabella Beauty Bar. I have to say, they all did a fabulous job!
Kate’s sister Morgan and her mom helped her as she put her dress on. (I photographed Morgan’s wedding back in 2014. Click here to see it!) She was a stunning bride!
The guys arrived shortly after, and it was time for Kate and Richard’s first look. The bridesmaids grabbed Kate’s dress as she walked outside to see her groom for the first time that day. It was so exciting and emotional as Richard turned around to see his beautiful bride. By far, it was my favorite first look to date. They took their time, laughed and cried, as they realized that their wedding day was finally here!
At one point, Richard got down on his knees, and kissed the hand of his queen. That was my favorite moment of the whole day.
Then we were able to take all the bridal party photos and some more of the bride and groom before we headed off to the ceremony!
The ceremony and reception both took place at Bell’s Banquets in Mount Pleasant. Having a first look did not take away from the emotions at all when Kate and Richard’s eyes met as she walked down the aisle. It was a beautiful ceremony surrounded by their friends and family. And then, just like that, they were married!
They greeted all their guests as they exited the room. Then outside on the walkway, Richard switched Kate’s rings around to the proper position.
We did family photos outside as the DJ had begun setting up for the reception as soon as the ceremony ended, and cocktail hour began.
After, we snuck away for a few more photos of the newlyweds, just around Bell’s. Then the party began! They had toasts by the best man, maid of honor, and matron of honor. They cut their cake and fed it to each other nicely.
For their first dance, they picked Perfect by Ed Sheeran. They turned the lights down in the barn and so they really were “dancing in the dark, with you between my arms.” It was beautiful.
Kate shared a dance with her dad and then her mom. Then the DJ from Soundwaves Event Group took over and kept the party going!
Kate and Richard, thank you so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer! It was such a perfect day and I can’t wait to see all that the Lord has planned for your future!
