It was turning out to be a gorgeous sunny day, the morning of Terra and James’ wedding. They had planned their wedding for a Sunday afternoon at House of Faith – The Barn in West Newton.
As I mentioned in their engagement post (you can read it here!) they were planning for a small wedding with just a ceremony and going out for dinner afterwards. But plans changed, and their small 25 person wedding turned into a 100+ person wedding! When you have big families and a lot of friends, it’s hard to only invite a few!
While their guest count may have increased, they decided to keep their bridal party to just a Matron of Honor and a Best man, both were their siblings.
However, what’s a wedding without your besties there to cheer you on? Terra got her hair and makeup done at her mother’s salon in West Newton. Her mom did her hair and her best friend (who is a professional makeup artist) made her absolutely stunning. Two other close friends were their and got their hair and makeup done as well! It was a perfect way to have her friends close. Terra’s puppy was also there to keep them company! They popped open some champagne and made mimosas before they headed out to the church.
House of Faith is not a “normal” church. Their services are on Saturdays, and the building is an incredible barn on the outside, and a gorgeous, classic, yet rustic, space on the inside. The sanctuary is actually on the upper level, which you can take an elevator to get to! It’s such a unique place for a wedding! In the downstairs, there are classrooms and a fellowship area where they had an area for their guests to mingle.
Terra put her dress and shoes on in one of the classrooms and had a first look with her dad who hadn’t seen her yet!
I snuck down to the basement (yes, this barn has a least 3 floors!) to get some photos of James before they rode up on the elevator.
Terra and James made the most beautiful vows to each other. It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have ever seen. They lit a unity candle, partook in communion together, and then were prayed over by the entire church.
Terra’s younger sister, Azzia, sung a beautiful rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.” She also sung an Ed Sheeran song at Tayler & Brad’s wedding which you can see here!
After the ceremony, their guests went off to the reception, and we stayed at the church to take their photos. The pastor lives on the same property, and it is gorgeous!
With my little baby, just a few weeks old at home, I wasn’t able to attend their reception. However, it’s important to me to capture their first dance! So “barefoot in the grass, listening to ‘their’ favorite song,” they had their first dance as husband and wife.
