I remember getting a call from Richelle’s aunt to talk about her niece’s wedding. It was just over a month away and they still hadn’t secured a photographer. She and the other aunt’s had talked about it and wanted to pay for a photographer for Richelle & David’s wedding. That just made my heart melt.
Then I met Richelle in person at Starbucks, and she told me their love story. If I didn’t cry on the outside, I definitely was on the inside.
David and Richelle have a story to last through the ages. When they met, they were instantly soulmates. As their relationship bloomed, their love for each other grew stronger and stronger. When Richelle’s mom was diagnosed with a life threatening disease, David dropped everything to take care of her so that Richelle could keep working. He stayed by her mom’s side every day until she passed away, and then he became Richelle’s rock, even more so than he had already been.
That kind of sacrificial love is rare. It’s beautiful. I knew immediately that I had to be there to capture that kind of love for them!
Their proposal story is a little bit funny. David set up a grand proposal at the Monterey Bay on Mount Washinton, but he was SO excited to propose, that he got down on one knee after the Pens game the night before. Haha.. Of course, then he had to tell Richelle about his grand plan with the staff at Monterey Bay, and tell her to act surprised. He couldn’t bear to call them back and tell them to change the plan! So they went out to dinner the next night, had to sneak the ring off her her hand and get it to the staff. One by one they came out and followed through with the original proposal. It was so romantic even though she had said yes the night before! And she said yes again. 😉
Richelle and David had a beautiful wedding in September of 2019 – and I can’t believe I have waited all this time to share these photos. It was the last wedding I photographed before maternity leave, and then the world shut down!
Their wedding took place at the Sunset Room in Elizabeth, PA. The staff there was so wonderful in coordinating the entire event! We were able to use their (new at the time) Sunset Vista Garden for all of their bridal party photos which was just perfect! If you’ve ever been to the sunset room, the sunset always lives up to it’s name, except this one particular day as it started raining after we finished their photos! So unfortunately, there was no sunset, but their love certainly shone bright the entire night!
I absolutely love how Richelle’s uncle walked her down the aisle, and later on, she shared a dance with each of her uncle’s on the dance floor. David’s dance with his mom, and his best man’s speech absolutely brought everyone to tears.
How about that batman symbol on their wedding cake! They both love batman and had to sneak it into their wedding somehow! Everyone was talking about it!
Richelle & David, your wedding day was absolutely perfect! Thank you so much for choosing me to be your photographer!
