Madilynn is basically a queen of dance. Since she was young, she’s been attending the Steel City Dance Academy to learn how to dance and perform! I had to dig through my memory to remember “first position, second position, etc.” from when I took a few ballet classes as a small child. Recently, my daughters have been enjoying dancing around the house in some leotards I bought them. It really brought those memories back! So when Madilynn’s mom reached out to me to capture her daughter in her dance performance outfits, I was so excited!
Ballet is Madilynn’s favorite type of dancing and in the future, she’d like to pursue a career in ballet! Even though we were only together for a short time, I could tell that Madilynn is completely dedicated to perfecting her skills as a dancer.
We had to switch locations last minute from Oak Hollow Park to Indian Lake Park due to a very late end of summer festival! Thankfully, the festival drew away the usual crowds at Indian Lake and there weren’t as many people there. It was a beautiful evening and I really enjoyed taking these photos! Her teal ballet outfit was my favorite, although the purple sparkles on her jazz outfit were so pretty! Madilynn has been on pointe for 3 years now. She told me how she gets new pointe shoes every couple of weeks and has to sew her own ribbons and elastics on. I had no idea that you had to be skilled in sewing to be a ballet dancer!
Dancing certainly is hard work and I know Madilynn will go far! Thank you for having me capture this exciting time of your life, Madilynn!
