I had the immense pleasure of capturing elopement photos for Emma and Luis last month at Saint Clair Park in Greensburg, PA!
One could say that I am responsible for them being together, and you bet I’ll be using that every time the situation arises where they need a reminder to who is their favorite sister…ha-ha.
My old boss at Sheetz used to say, “I don’t know what everyone’s drinking around here, but love must be in the water!” And it seemed to be true as so many of my past coworkers fell in love and got married. It worked for Rachel and Joe (who are expecting another little one very soon!). And it worked for Emma and Luis!
I made the difficult and freeing decision to leave my day job at Sheetz to take on photography full time back in 2017. I had worked there for nearly 5 years and became very close with many of my coworkers. When it was time for my baby shower before we welcomed Alethea into the world, I wanted to have it open to anyone and everyone. So, we invited whole families, and all of our friends; girls and guys! I invited all of my former coworkers in a general invitation and asked them to rsvp if they would be able to come. The first person to respond was Luis! We had worked together for probably a year or so. He was always very quiet, and I always enjoyed working with him. But when he rsvp’d, I was surprised! I wasn’t expecting him to come! But he showed up and brought some of my favorite gifts.
Little did I know that he was REALLY there because he was interested in my sister Emma. And let me just say, I think we all were completely blind to it that day.
But after a few years, I will say that there is no one who makes Emma happier than Luis. He is truly a wonderful guy! They enjoy the simple life together. Luis proposed over waffles one Sunday in February, before church. He bought Emma the most darling pearl ring which she has always wanted.
Of course, once you’re engaged, everyone starts asking about the wedding plans and Emma and Luis decided that they were going to skip all of that stress and just elope.
And that’s exactly what they did!
Emma asked me to come and take some photos of their ceremony with their pastor. So, one Sunday in May, on a gorgeously sunny afternoon, Emma and Luis entered into the covenant of marriage. They chose to elope at Saint Clair Park in Greensburg, a place that they frequently take walks at after church. It was kind of crazy that there was literally no one else around at the park! They had a private ceremony, and I was able to take photos of their wedding ceremony and I even took some videos on my iPhone. My sister Kara (who has started a new home video curation business) was able to make them a beautiful wedding video with the videos I took. I was so excited to be able to do that for them since they didn’t want anyone else present.
Emma and Luis, thank you so much for having me come and capture your best day! I love you both so much and am so glad that the Lord has brought you together.
