All of these sweet giggles make for the perfect adventurous family photos! The laughter and scrunchy noses are why I absolutely love family sessions. Of course, that means I have to actually be funny, and luckily enough, I come from a long line of sarcastic and funny people. 😉
While photographing little kids can be challenging, it is usually ends up being my most favorite sessions. Little kids, especially when there’s more than one, bring so much life and joy and the atmosphere completely changes for the better. I like to give young children a big space to run and be themselves. Bushy Run is one of the most perfect places for that! I had a lot of conversations this year there about the fact that it is a battlefield, and that may seem a little strange and audacious to have photos taken there. I believe that it is actually a perfect place because battles are fought for freedom, so what better place to run, be free, and enjoy that freedom?
Anyone can go to Bushy Run to walk around, hike the trails, and enjoy the stunning scenery. There is a museum that you can walk through to learn about the historical battle that happened there, a log cabin, several monuments and signs all throughout the State Park. If you ever have a chance to visit there, I highly recommend it!
Emilie chose the perfect color palette for their early fall family photos this year. Not many of the leaves had changed yet, and we bounced around dates this particular week due to rain. It was a truly blessed year for fall photos. The sun came out at nearly every single session I photographed! This one was especially gorgeous as the sun shone through the wet and glittering trees. Usually I prepare for mud after a good rain like we had, but the ground was surprisingly dry!
We walked all around the lower portion of Bushy Run and the kids adventurously climbed rocks and ran through the fields of tall grass. The promise of ice cream after a lovely warm fall evening kept the kids happy and smiling the entire time.
